Rename your files clearly, with local AI
NameHero reads the content of your documents, photos and videos and generates clear, searchable file names — entirely on your own computer. Your files are never uploaded anywhere.
One tool for every file name
Runs locally. No cloud dependency, and nothing of yours is uploaded.
Private by design
Reading and renaming happen on your machine. File contents never reach our servers.
Content-aware naming
It understands what a document or photo is about — not just the file extension.
Photos & video
Frames are sampled from videos (portrait orientation auto-corrected), iPhone HEIC photos are read directly, and names are generated from what is actually in the picture.
GPS location naming
Photos with location data can carry the shooting location in the file name.
Naming templates
Combine date, subject, type and project freely to keep a whole batch consistent.
Apply & undo
Apply in one click and roll back the whole batch if anything looks wrong. Rename history is stored on disk, so originals can still be restored after a restart.
Organize by type
Sort files into sub-folders by type, date or project.
Folder monitoring
New files are added to the queue automatically, ready to be renamed in a batch.
Transparent pricing, one-time purchase
No subscription, no monthly fee. Pay once, use it forever.

Download NameHero
AI naming runs on a local Ollama + Qwen-VL vision model (install Ollama and pull a model first: the fast tier is about 3GB, the quality tier about 5GB — you can switch tiers inside the app). Without Ollama you can still rename manually and organize files by type.
If your antivirus flags the download, choose "Allow" — the app runs locally and uploads nothing; the warning appears because the build is not yet code-signed, which we are working on.
